Climate & Care

At Snowdrop Argyll, we believe caring for ourselves and caring for the planet are deeply connected.

Through our Climate and Care work, inspired by our ‘Climate Action Without Despair” approach collaboration with Cope Scotland, we create gentle spaces for people to explore climate action in ways that feel hopeful, practical and supportive rather than overwhelming.

Our sessions encourage conversations around self care, resilience, connection to nature and learning to care for both ourselves and the world around us. We often reflect on themes of “love self and planet”, recognising that wellbeing and environmental care can go hand in hand.

Alongside discussion and wellbeing activities, we also support a number of practical sustainability projects within our community.

These include:

  • Reusing donated materials, fabric and wool within our craft and making groups.

  • Creating handmade items through our knitting, crochet and quilting groups.

  • Partnering with the local Co-op to collect surplus food each day and place it in our outdoor community larder, helping reduce food waste while supporting local people.

  • Encouraging active travel through the bike repair station outside the Centre, provided through support from ACT.

  • Supporting community environmental action through our litter picking station provided by GRAB Trust.

Supporting the local Climate Café, who hold monthly gatherings in the Centre, bringing people together to discuss environmental issues, share ideas and encourage positive local action.

For us, climate action does not need to be about perfection. Small actions, shared together with care and compassion, can help strengthen both people and communities.
